Discovering Nsoula, the birthplace of the Berber Desert brand
Each Qamis that you wear at Berbère du Désert carries within it a story, a heritage deeply rooted in the Moroccan desert , in the heart of the province of Tata , in the Souss-Massa region, southeast of the Anti-Atlas .
This journey through time and space takes you to Nsoula , formerly known as Enhel in the Amazigh language, a village rich in history and tradition.
An ancestral heritage
My father told me the story of this village where his father was born. Nsoula, or Enhel which means "Nomad".
This name evokes the indomitable spirit and resilience of the Berber tribes who forged our history.
As nomads, my great-grandparents were roaming these lands when they discovered this oasis in the middle of the desert, dotted with date palms.
The conquest and the foundation
The history of Nsoula is one of conquest. The nomads of our tribe saw in these lands a promise of life and prosperity.
They clashed with the tribe from the neighbouring village of Tlite , located about twenty kilometres south of Nsoula , who claimed these lands.
Determined to settle in this haven of peace, they waged war against the Tlite tribe, who eventually gave in.
Our ancestors were then able to settle in Enhel . This name, meaning "Nomad" , perfectly reflects the essence of our origins.
By wearing our Qamis, you are not just wearing a garment, you are embracing a story, that of Nsoula and its nomadic inhabitants, their quest for fertile lands and their victory in the desert .
