Why the size of a Qamis is different from a t-shirt
A Qamis is not just any garment. It's not a t-shirt you buy a size up "to be comfortable." The cut of a Qamis follows precise codes — it must fall elegantly, neither too fitted nor too loose.
At Berbère du Désert, our Qamis are straight-cut, made from 100% natural poplin cotton. This fabric has the particularity of being slightly more structured than jersey — it drapes well and keeps its shape. This also means you need to choose your size precisely.
How to take your measurements
Step 1: Take a Qamis that fits you well and lay it flat on a flat surface.
Step 2: Measure the chest circumference of the Qamis from one side to the other, at the level of the armpit seam — then multiply by 2. Example: you measure 58 cm × 2 = 116 cm → choose S (117 cm).
Step 3: Measure the total length of the Qamis. You can always shorten it if it's slightly too long.
